Kayla Allen, a conservative Republican leader with 20 years’ experience as a prosecutor in Galveston County, is the best choice to serve as your next Criminal District Attorney.

Kayla is proud to have dedicated her entire career to keeping our community safe. She began her career in 2004 in the misdemeanor division, then was promoted to the juvenile division. She earned a spot in the felony trial division, where she tried all levels of felony offenses. She was then made Chief Prosecutor of various specialty divisions, including Child and Elderly Abuse and Vehicular Crimes. She has mentored new prosecutors as Chief of both the Misdemeanor and Felony Divisions. In 2024 she achieved the position of First Assistant, where she is the second highest-ranking criminal prosecutor in the County, second only to the current District Attorney, Jack Roady.

KAYLA ALLEN

Having prosecuted nearly 80 jury trials throughout her career, Kayla has obtained convictions in felony cases of all types, including Capital Murder, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Intoxication Manslaughter, and countless other heinous crimes. She is the sole prosecutor in Galveston County to have tried a death penalty case in the past 25 years. She also recently secured a murder conviction in a 40-year-old cold case, the oldest cold case to be tried in Galveston County.

As Vehicular Crimes Chief, Kayla worked to create the STRIKE program to combat drunk drivers in Galveston County. She had discovered a problem in jury trials for intoxication-related offenses, finding jurors wanted blood results before convicting intoxicated drivers. So, Kayla set out to make it easier for law enforcement officers to obtain blood alcohol results for drivers who refused to provide a specimen.

To resolve this, she coordinated with multiple agencies, including county law enforcement, judges, and medical professionals, to bring all parties to the table and streamline the process for obtaining search warrants for blood samples from suspected intoxicated drivers. What began as an aid to “no refusal weekends” has since been adopted county-wide. Now, every day in Galveston County is a “no refusal day” for suspected drunk drivers.

The STRIKE program has been a tremendous success, increasing the number of convictions for intoxication-related offenses from misdemeanor DWI’s through felony Intoxication Manslaughter cases. From her sheer force of will, Kayla Allen has made the community safer from intoxicated drivers and innovated the search warrant process for law enforcement.

Not being one to wait for cases to arrive at the office, Kayla takes her initiative into the field as well. She trains new police officers how to successfully obtain search warrants, ensuring valuable evidence isn’t thrown out on technicalities and that convictions will hold up on appeal. She also keeps officers up to date on developing laws, and works with them to implement new policies and procedures.

Kayla is passionate about the citizens of Galveston and works to help ensure they don’t become victims of crime. She teaches at the Galveston County Citizen Sheriff’s Academy and the Santa Fe Police Department Citizens Academy. In each program, people learn about the various crimes that plague the community, and through Kayla’s help, how they can avoid becoming victims.

Kayla’s mentorship isn’t confined by the county line. She has trained prosecutors all over the State of Texas, not only about the solemn duty of being a prosecutor, but also how to be a successful courtroom advocate. She has been an invited lecturer at seminars provided by the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, where she has helped inspire and train prosecutors throughout the State of Texas in the higher calling of public service.

Not only is Kayla active in keeping the community safe, she’s also active in improving the community as a whole. She serves in many community-oriented organizations, including the Rotary Club of Galveston Island, National Charity League, and the Galveston Bar Association, where she is currently a director and has served as President. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Clear Creek Republican Women’s Club and is a volunteer for the Galveston Republican Women. Kayla is also a member of several Republican organizations, including: the Republican Network, Mid-County Republican Network, and the Texas Federation of Republican Women.

In her own words, “What I love about being a prosecutor is making the community safer for our children, getting justice and closure for victims, and training the next generation of prosecutors.”

Kayla has been married to her husband, Dink, for 14 years. Her husband has spent his 20-year career as a professional with the Juvenile Justice Center, encouraging juvenile detainees to re-evaluate their life choices and grow into thriving adults. Kayla and Dink have two kids – Quinn and Kolbee. Their family lives in League City and are members of St. Mary’s of the Expectation Catholic Church where Kayla teaches faith formation to elementary students.

As a daughter of a Marine who served in Vietnam, Kayla learned the value of hard work and dedication. As a self-driven leader, she is ready to use her extensive knowledge, training, and leadership experience to serve as your next District Attorney for Galveston County. Having dedicated her career serving the citizen and victims of Galveston County, she has gained the respect of fellow prosecutors, judges, the defense bar, court staff, and is even endorsed and supported by the current District Attorney, Jack Roady! She is the clear choice to be your next District Attorney, and is humbled at the opportunity to serve her community in this role!
